Fayetteville (residents): free household-hazardous-waste drop-off EVERY THURSDAY, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., at S. Happy Hollow Rd. and 15th St. Takes batteries, cleaners, oil-based paint, aerosols, fluorescent bulbs, pesticides, oils. Not accepted: tires, electronics, latex paint. Washington County (year-round): Boston Mountain Solid Waste District centers in Prairie Grove (11398 Bond Rd) and Springdale (1809 S. Lowell Rd). Latex paint runs about $2 a gallon to recycle. bostonmountain.org.
Benton County: drop-off centers in Centerton (5702 Brookside Rd), Rogers (2307 N. Arkansas St), and Siloam Springs (1108 E. Ashley St) take furniture, appliances, electronics, metal, tires, and household hazardous waste, fees and limits apply; call (479) 795-0751. bentoncountyrecycles.org.
Pro tip: latex paint isn't hazardous, dry it out with kitty litter and it can go in the regular trash. Oil-based paint IS hazardous; that one makes the Thursday run.
