Opening Note
A major Springdale construction project reached its opening this week. A Rogers sewer bid closes next Wednesday, an aircraft manufacturer has a Bentonville job posting, and there is still time to plan training and get your crew in front of other people in the industry.
Here is what opened, what needs a closer look and what belongs on your calendar.
Trade Update
Arkansas Children's Northwest opens its expanded hospital campus
Arkansas Children's Northwest celebrated the grand opening of its expanded Walker Campus on October 7. The Springdale hospital now has 40 inpatient beds, with expanded physical and occupational therapy, an infusion center, a centralized laboratory and more capacity for specialty and surgical care. Read the hospital's announcement.

In its September 2025 project update, the hospital described an $82.7 million expansion with 50,000 square feet of new finished space and 23,000 square feet of renovations. See the earlier construction update.
The opening announcement credits Nabholz, Cromwell Architects Engineers, Polk Stanley Wilcox Northstar and SSR Engineering. The hospital stayed operational throughout the work.
For builders, this is an example of delivering an addition and renovations around an occupied health-care facility. For local families, it adds specialized care closer to home.
Bid Board: Rogers Deadline Next Wednesday
Wednesday, October 14, 2 p.m.: Blossom Way sewer main in Rogers. Rogers Water Utilities is seeking construction of roughly 15,500 feet of sanitary sewer between Pauline Whitaker Drive and Dixieland Road. This is a land-financing transaction to track. Read the transaction report.
Fayetteville businesses: check the October 31 renewal date
The city says annual business-license renewals are due October 31 to avoid late fees. Home-based businesses are among those covered unless exempt. Check your city requirements separately from any state contractor license. Start with Fayetteville's business-license information.
Skills & Training
Beyond residential: aircraft manufacturing in Bentonville
GAME has a full-time, day-shift Manufacturing Technician posting in Bentonville. The work includes composite fabrication, trimming and finishing, with engineering drawings guiding the job. The posting calls for a high-school diploma or equivalent, mechanical aptitude and drawing interpretation; technical training is a plus. It does not publish pay. For someone interested in building aircraft, this is a local employer opportunity worth reviewing. Read the requirements and apply through GAME.

Industrial training dates to check
NWTI's training application lists Human-Machine Interfaces October 19–22, Electrical Controls Troubleshooting and PLC I October 26–29, and Ammonia Operator I November 16–19. These are useful dates for maintenance, refrigeration, electrical and automation crews. A listed course is not a promise of an available seat. Check the provider's dates, prerequisites and enrollment.
For another skilled-work path, Brightwater's free eight-week culinary and baking/pastry bootcamps start October 14. Check applications and availability.

The Weekly Fix
Disconnect the hose before the first freeze
Make a quick walk around the house: disconnect every garden hose, drain it and put it away. A hose left attached can keep water from draining out of an outdoor faucet. Denver Water explains why even freeze-proof faucets need the hose removed.

Then find the home's main water shutoff and label it so the household can find it quickly if a leak happens. Rogers Water Utilities recommends knowing that valve's location and disconnecting and draining garden hoses. The home's shutoff is separate from the valve in the utility meter box. Read the local utility's winter-preparation tips.
If a faucet will not shut off or a valve is stuck, ask a plumber to check it. Arrange irrigation winterization using the system manufacturer's instructions. Get this done before freezing weather arrives.
